The major difference between a reputable breeder and a mere puppy-raiser is that the responsibility of the breeder is a continuous matter. Dog dealers and puppy-raisers aim at getting profit and the futures of their puppies are of no interest for them once the litter is sold. However, you have every right to expect advice and help from your breeder. He usually does his best to educate potential owners of his Doberman Pinschers. Reputable breeder insists on direct contact with people who buy his dogs. He normally sells only after the most careful screening.

By asking numerous questions and making it rather hard for you to obtain one of their pups, a reputable breeder prevents you from committing yourself to something you are not ready for, protects the pup from getting into an unsuitable home and values his good reputation. It allows you the opportunity to be sure of the background and health of your Doberman Pinscher, which is very important, especially if you are dealing with a show dog.
